Melalui data spektroskopi, tim peneliti menemukan pergeseran suhu yang jauh lebih besar daripada perkiraan sebelumnya.

"Webb has shown that the planet’s increase in temperature was even more extreme than we anticipated based on Spitzer data," ujar Tiffany Kataria.

Sebelum dipantau oleh James Webb, Teleskop Luar Angkasa Spitzer telah meletakkan dasar pengamatan inframerah pada eksoplanet yang dijuluki planet panggang ini.

"Spitzer did amazing work on this exoplanet, and now Webb is building on that legacy by enabling us to drill down to distinguish specific chemical signatures like methane and carbon dioxide, which is just amazing progress," kata Ryan Challener, rekan penulis dari Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science.

Peneliti menegaskan bahwa proses analisis data kaya dari teleskop antariksa ini masih berada pada tahap awal.

"There’s so much to learn from this one dataset here — we really are just getting started deciphering what Webb has to tell us," ujar Ryan Challener.
