"That feeling of complicity with the audience is always an interesting note to play inside of this sort of larger structure," ucap Sam Levinson.

"You end up going, 'Oh God, I don't know. Should he have had it better?

Did he deserve it?' Those kinds of questions are always exciting to pose to the audience."

Editor Julio C. Perez IV turut terlibat dalam proses tersebut.

Julio C. Perez IV telah bekerja bersama Sam Levinson selama lebih dari delapan tahun.

Ia membawa gaya penyuntingan yang terinspirasi dari musik metal ke dalam proyek ini.

"The overall through line is I've always been really interested in the fringes of the mainstream," kata Julio C.

Perez IV. Ia menjelaskan ketertarikannya pada budaya subkultur yang memiliki vitalitas tinggi dan semangat liar.

"Things that have a certain dangerous quality that might be mythic. It might be imagined.

It might be very real," ujar Julio C. Perez IV.

"I'm less interested in corporate sterility and more interested in subculture that's rather obscure, something with real vitality, something that spits fire, has a wild spirit."

Kerja sama keduanya bermula sejak proses penyuntingan ulang film Assassination Nation yang dirilis pada 2018.

"We met on a recut of Assassination Nation, which was a film I made in 2018," kata Sam Levinson.

"We just got along really well, and worked really well."

Hubungan kerja yang erat ini terbangun karena keduanya memiliki landasan pemikiran yang sama dalam memandang karya film. "Sam and I had an immediate rapport," kata Julio C.

Perez IV.

Ia menggarisbawahi bahwa kesamaan prioritas dalam mencintai film menjadi faktor utama yang menyatukan mereka.

"Right away, it was obvious we had a similar foundation of loving, loving movies," ujar Julio C. Perez IV.

"You'd be surprised in this town how many people operate with different priorities. Maybe you're not surprised at all."
