Komitmen tersebut terus dipegang teguh demi meminimalisasi hambatan politik bagi para peserta turnamen.

"We always try to make the situation as positive as possible and to find solutions. Sometimes we manage, other times not," tutur Infantino.

Ia optimistis kehadiran Iran di stadion akan disambut meriah oleh para penonton sepak bola.

"I think it has already been successful to bring Iran to play in America.

I don't know who would have managed to do that, and of course, everyone here believes it's the right thing to do but again we don't live on the moon; we live on planet earth and you have to deal with different situations.

We try to do our best and I hope we’ll have some good news," ucap Infantino.

Infantino turut mengenang momen kunjungan langsung saat memantau persiapan skuad Iran beberapa bulan sebelum turnamen dimulai.

"Let me say that on Iran, I am very happy because I went to see the Iranian team in Turkey in March this year," kata Infantino.

Ia menceritakan kegigihan para pemain Iran yang tetap optimistis bisa bertanding walau sempat diragukan akibat hambatan politik.

"People were saying Iran couldn't come to the World Cup, I promised them they will come and if I have to go on a bus to Tehran and drive them here I will do that.

Their answer was we will take the bus and drive ourselves if needs be. We qualified and we want to play.

This is the spirit of football.

There are challenges, it's not easy, but I don't know who else would have been able to ensure in these circumstances - which we could not influence - Iran could come and play.
