Fathom Events and Hasbro have announced that the upcoming 4K re-release of the 1986 animated film The Transformers: The Movie will include a never-before-seen cinematic chapter that plays after the credits.

The special screening is scheduled for September 17, designated as Transformers Day, in theaters across the United States and the United Kingdom.

The new footage was first teased in a trailer unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.

According to the announcement, this post-credits chapter is described as a never-before-seen addition to the film, offering fans an extra glimpse into the Transformers universe.

Film Synopsis and Background

The original film, animated by Toei Animation, serves as a sequel to the first seasons of the Transformers animated series.

The story follows the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen), as they battle the evil Decepticons under Megatron (Frank Welker).

A greater threat emerges when Unicron (voiced by Orson Welles), a planet-consuming entity, heads toward Cybertron.

The Autobots must use the Matrix of Leadership to save their homeworld and prevent destruction.

This is not the first time the film has returned to theaters. In September 2021, for the franchise's 35th anniversary, the movie was re-released in U.

Factory issued a limited-edition steelbook featuring the film on 4K UHD for the first time, with a brand-new 4K transfer from the original 35mm film.

The Transformers: The Movie is based on Hasbro's toy line, which itself originated from Takara's Diaclone and Microman toy lines.
