Menteri Olahraga Ghana, Kofi Adams, melayangkan protes keras terhadap keputusan imigrasi Kanada yang menolak banding visa Thomas Partey.

"For Canada, which is a party to many international treaties, that accepts the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a competent court, to decide that they have some rules that will not allow you to be admitted into their country is unfair and an overreaction," protes Kofi Adams.

Pemerintah Ghana merasa keputusan tersebut terlalu berlebihan mengingat status kejuaraan ini adalah turnamen resmi berskala global.

"We have strongly protested against that," tegas Kofi Adams.

Masalah Domestik Sepak Bola Ghana

Masalah domestik sepak bola Ghana juga disorot oleh jurnalis Yaw Ofusu yang menyebut bahwa kompetisi lokal kehilangan gairah sejak tragedi Stadion Accra dan skandal pengaturan skor.

"Ability is not the concern in Ghana, there is plenty of it," ungkap Yaw Ofusu.

Ia menambahkan bahwa ketakutan penonton untuk datang ke stadion memicu kerugian finansial yang membuat klub-klub tradisional gulung tikar.

"For years, people stayed away from stadiums because they were scared," ujar Yaw Ofusu.

Kondisi ini diperparah dengan hilangnya sponsor utama dan munculnya klub-klub baru tanpa sejarah kuat di liga domestik.

"Some of the traditionally bigger clubs, like Accra Olympic and Real Tamale, went out of business and were replaced by teams with no history, so the league lost a lot of vibrancy," tambah Yaw Ofusu.
